Along with an assortment of DVD and Blu-ray Disc Drive, the company offers both hard drives and flash-based memory solutions for the markets of laptops and desktops
Like many other manufacturers, Samsung has set his sights on the growing market for solid state drive (SSD). Last fall, the company introduced two new drives, SSD and SSD Pro 840 840. Designed and built entirely in-house, these two ultrathin SSDS are supplied by MDX triple-core controller of Samsung has a specially designed interface SATA 6 GB/s, wear levelling and garbage collection algorithms, and up to 512 MB of cache. From here, however, the similarities end. Where the SSD 840 addresses the conscious consumer, the 840 Pro high-performance SSD is equipped with NAND flash memory DDR2 Samsung Toggle to supply up to 540 cost/s reading and writing speed 520 MB/s as well as up to 100,000 IOPS.
For this review, we purchased the 512 GB SSD version Pro 840. This unit is equipped with 512 MB of onboard cache and is able to deliver sequential read 540 MB/s, 520 MB/s sequential write speeds as well as up to 90,000 100,000 random read and write IOPS random.
