The latest addition to the OCZ line of solid state drives is consumer oriented 450 Summit. Bridging the gap between mainstream and high-performance solid-state storage, the ultra-thin 450 Vertex is based on Indilinx Barefoot controller OCZ 3 M10. Developed entirely in-house, this state-of-the-art controller is powered by an ARM Cortex processor and co-processor by OCZ and has an engine ETC advanced, multi-level, low amplification, writing efficient garbage collection and ?ash NAND management. The M10 derivative of Barefoot 3 ups ante further addition AES-256 and a clock generator power-optimized. The Vertex 450 is equipped with 20 nm synchronously MLC NAND and an extra-large cache DRAM to supply up to 540 MB/s read and write speed 525MB/s with a maximum of 90,000 random write 4 KB IOPS.
For this review, OCZ has sent us a 256 GB version 450 Summit. This SSD is equipped with 512 MB of onboard cache and is able to deliver sequential read 540 MB/s and 525MB/s sequential write speeds as well as up to 85,000 and 90,000 random read, random write IOPS.
